Razor Clam Festival this weekend; its clammin’ time!
Perfectly timed with this weekend’s Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has approved the opening at Mocrocks and Copalis beaches for clam digging!
The upcoming dig is scheduled on the following beaches, dates and low tides:
March 18, Friday, 4:15 p.m.; 0.7 feet; Mocrocks, Copalis
March 19, Saturday, 5:07 p.m.; 0.5 feet; Mocrocks, Copalis
March 20, Sunday, 5:50 p.m.; 0.4 feet; Mocrocks, Copalis
Concurrently, beachgoers can attend the 10th annual Ocean Shores Razor Clam Festival, with plenty of fun-family events scheduled Friday-Sunday, March 18-20 at the Ocean Shores Convention Center.
The marquee happening at the festival is the clam chowder cooking competition. Local restaurants compete for the title of “Best Clam Chowder on the Pacific Northwest Coast.” Amateur chefs compete for the title of best homemade clam chowder. It’s a fun and spirited competition, that allows patrons to do plenty of sampling.
Additionally, the three-day festival will feature live music, other artisan foods, an auction of decorated clam guns/shovels, cooking demonstrations, and for kids, mechanical shark rides, face painting and even ponies to pet and ride.
The huge, heated pool, spa and sauna at The Polynesian is also a treat for families, too!
It’s a perfect kick off to spring on the coast!
Rooms are nearly sold out for this weekend, but call ahead for later in March when the WDFW is expected to confirm additional clamming dates.
These dates should be confirmed next week:
March 25, Friday, 8:31 a.m.; 0.7 feet; Mocrocks
March 26, Saturday, 9:06 a.m.; 0.6 feet; Mocrocks
March 27, Sunday, 9:42 a.m.; 0.7 feet; Mocrocks
